How Did You End Up Here?

I work at the Inn at Death Valley National Park, as a waiter, busser, room service, and hosting.

I tell a story many times, each day, to people who ask me, "where are you from?," and, "how did you end up here?". These questions are asked about 3 to 4 times each shift I work. It's interesting in that I'm asked this by all kinds of folks, of all ages, in all parks I've worked at, every day I work.

These people all envy what I do, what Mary and I do. Some wish they had done it when they were my age, some wish they could do this now, and some wish to do this someday...some know they'll never travel like I do, and some are just interested in why I'm here.

I love to tell stories, and do so with great enthusiasm. Some even ask how to "do this" (traveling around). And I give them some basic tips.
