We work with several hundred hosting companies. I hate 98% of them. In fact, I hate so many of them that the only website hosting company names I remember are the ones I hate the most.
If you could only choose one website hosting company to work with, what would it be? Feel free to add links, just not affiliate links. If you work for a hosting company, tell me, but also tell me your best competitor.
DigitalGhost: Rackspace. I've had problems with every host I've ever used except for Netnation.
Stephen Vardy: wedohosting.com. They phone me up to see how they can do it cheaper, saved me $200 with one call, and a human answers the phone!
graywolf: The only one I've never had a bad day with is Pair, ain't cheap though.
Jim: I put Stephen's "wedohosting.com" recommendation to the test — called them up, the phone was answered before the second ring, and the guy found my answer in 30 seconds. Score one for them. Tried Netnation, got stuck on hold for 3 minutes and hung up — they fail. National Net passed my phone test with flying colors: real human, good knowledge, and fast.
Andy Hagans: I heart DreamHost.
Jim: Dreamhost has no phone numbers listed. Not listing your phone number is just rude — I'd never recommend a hosting company that doesn't list one.
