    Here’s another good one: http://www.apple.com/macosx/

Seriously though, back in the day when I used Windows, F-Secure rocked. AntiVir is another good one, and it’s free.

That’s a real scary list because the apparent best of breed isn’t used by the masses.

The only thing I’d be curious about is how many of the The 147,184 virus samples are still in use or even valid for later OS’s which would make those tools still dragging around the extra baggage supposedly fare better than a tool with an optimized and up-to-date virus checklist.

AVG hands down, it’s free and auto-updates, the virus team is also faster to innoculate new strains than paid antivirus programs.

    Firewall

The free version of Zone Alarm

On max security level you are stealth…

Aaron, I too was a AVG fan….until I read that report….now, I’m actually using the AOL…so funny….guess AOL IS good for Something (it’s a free download, and you don’t need AOL to get it).

  5. IncrediBILL Says:

Don’t know how much validity I would put in this report as mentioned above, but my laptop is still secured with AVG and no plans to change it.

  6. Jim Boykin Says:

well Bill, I trust your judgement above whoever did this report…so OK, AVG it is again.

  7. IncrediBILL Says:

Hey, don’t trust MY judgement LOL!

I’m just not jumping off my current virus scanners which have served me well until I understand the test suite better is all, and I’m a huge procrastinator so don’t do what I do.

I do not trust anything that comes via Digg, it is one BIG viral virus thingy! :)
