Just ask TextLinkAds.com, they will tell you the exact value of a link - typically between $20-100/mo. Thats one and one Jackson and one Franklin.

[...] Damn! Most of this is because of so many SEO people with only a little bit of knowledge (not rocket scientist yet) can be a really dangerious thing……and damn clients who dictate "Numbers, damn it, Numbers" (remember Chucks ole "pennies and Franklin’s") - and can you blame people for filling the need of what the demand is for?
Very well said Jim!

That makes sense in a simple way! Well not all the sites are worthy as much to one than it could be to other.

This is a great way to look at a links value.
I have a future client that I really want to read this post. It may push them into what I have been trying to present to them, that a well written linkbait post is better than 100 auto-generated posts.
Thanks,
Mark

Very good one. A little better than a "link is a like a vote analogy" and then having to bring the electoral college into the mix :)

I really like that analogy because everyone can understand it on one level or another. The first I heard it used was on SEOmoz at www.seomoz.org/blog/the-things-you-didnt-know-you-didnt-know (even though the site is currently down for me).
