Is it a “Google Dance”? Seeing big shifts.
IncrediBILL always has a way with words, when I saw this title in my feedreader I couldn’t help but see what bill was saying when he said, "Google Dance Makes You Shit Your Pants".
Bill was reporting google rankings jumping all around, so I ran to check rankings using Digitialpoint’s ranking tool, and ya….we track about 400 sites and most sites we’re tracking between 3-5 phrases each…and yea….there’s something going on…a dance?…we’ll it’s the biggest shifts I’ve seen in a while. Overall most of our clients got a nice jump…..and dang, on some datacenters webuildpages.com is at #8 for "internet marketing" …we havent’s been in the top 10 in a few years - I hope the wheel stops here.

Jim, I’m seeing the same thing and the best part is there are a number of one year old sites that are coming in from #1000 to top two pages in G. Goodbye sandbox for these sites!

Thanks for the update Jim!
Do you agree that the more White Hat your SEO is the less your changes in the SERPS when a dance occurs?

Spencer…yes I would…but sometimes even the whitest of hats can get caught in “collateral damages” of updates and get crappy rankings….but mostly I see little increases which I feel is due to slow and steady link growth.

The ” jumping” doesn’t seem to be restricted to Google alone.
On Yahoo, for one of our keywords, our ranking changes from #2 to #67 sometimes within minutes. This started around a week ago. I assume it will eventually stabilize.

oh…cr@p… here i am just recovering from Y!’s yo-yo and now G’s gone and done a dance too? But what the heck am I complaining about… I’m one of those one-year old site guys and if I debut at page #20 I’d still smile… LOL!
