Finding a website’s traffic stats - help.

Help!

I’m trying to come up with a list of possible webpages that people store their stats on…so say if I were to find a site, and I wanted to know the site’s traffic I could search for pages like:

www.theirsite.com/stats/

Anyone know of common places people store their stats on, where if you knew the url you could peek at thier traffic?

/_stats/ is where webalizer is commonly located…

    example.com/awstats
    example.com/shortstat

If the site has an open logfile that is being indexed, you can likely locate it using this search:

***search string removed by Jim after speaking with Roger….too open to log spammers - I’ll keep that one under my hat Roger ***

    Try /webstat/.

e.g. http://blog.searchinfluence.com/webstat/ - please try not to scoff at my sad little blog - it’s only been up a week or two and it ain’t art (or science).

    Try both plural and singular:
    example.com/stats
    example.com/stat

Try add name of statistic software to url
    example.com/webalizer/stats
    example.com/awstats/stat

Try to find in source code free stats pictures (and hidden dots) like t.extreme-dm.com (http://extremetracking.com/).
Sometimes they link directly to stats, sometimes you get ID.

You check domain to get IP and check their hosting if they offer public statistics. If they offer you ask for direct link, all sites in most cases have some folder structure.

/webtrends or /trends is another common one installed server side.
