Congratulations on the imminent arrival Jim.

I'm happy to pay for access here, but I'm not sure what it'll accomplish - and it may be to your detriment. I doubt you'll see enough cash to make it worthwhile so I don't see it as a profit center. It may cut down on spam I guess, but I don't read here for the comments - I read for the original blog posts. And as noted above, it may substantially cut down on any advertising/promotion you receive as a result of this site.

Plus, if you're doing it for cash, and don't see much return, there might not be as much incentive for you to post. If you leave it out as eye candy for prospective clients to prove you're an authority in the industry then it's to your benefit to keep it current - and I like that :).

But whatever is best for you. I'll continue to read either way.

See you in Vegas!

P.S. Can anyone tell me what 4+5 is? I don't have a calculator handy.

Well have a productive blogging break Jim, wish you the best.

Great idea blogging on "Here’s how to build links". Many of us will probably follow you on the "small fee charge" for good information on links and "killer tools", we know you'll give the best to your readers.

I'll be waiting for the Link Ninja Class...

Wish you the best with your new baby and thanks Jim for all the good information, keep it up!

Personally, I'd prefer if your blog didn't go paid. Although I work for a growing company which is more than happy to fund my SEO education, if I wasn't here I'd be optimizing non-profits, trying to give a voice to worthy causes on a small/nonexistent budget. A lot of non-profits could use more online exposure but simply can't buy their way onto the serps like big biz can. While this is my favorite SEO blog (the stuff I've learned here forms the foundation of our SEO philosphy), my personal feeling is that you could help a lot more people by sharing your info rather than selling it... but hey, it's your business, your blog...

Here's wishing you a happy and productive break - congratulations on the upcoming baby! If you/the WBP crew will be in Chicago, you may run into us there.

Your wisdom will be missed Jim. Best wishes to you and your family. Look forward to the new look. And . . . I do not endorse adding a subscription. You probably gain a lot more credibility and marketing power by expanding your reach. Sell the tools to the expanded audience. Just my opinion.

Hey Jim, A break that is well deserved and I can certainly relate to the need for updating a company website. Mine is still circa 2001.

Best of luck with your imminent new addition to the family!

Yep - as above Jim. Best wishes on your imminent arrival!

To be honest I'm not sure about paying to see whole posts. This blog is a good platform for you and I'd keep it reaching as wide an audience as possible. There's always problems when something free moves to a pay model. What about building on what you have done here - and setting up a private forum? It's a walk in the park on the technical side - most of the packages are geared up for that model already.

You can always promote it from here (with post highlights etc.) and I'd certainly be one of the first people to sign up.

Jim, you will be missed over the next few weeks, but good for you to step away to take care of business and family.

I will definitely be willing to part with some pocket cash to get extended posts on your link advice when you come back.
