Google Selling Run of Site Ads. Da Vinci Code Quest.

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Roger just mentioned to me that Google’s got these new Run of site (on search result pages) ads for "Play the Da Vinci Code Quest on Google."

Just go ahead, run any ole search on google (it’s not contextual, any ole search will do), scroll down to the bottom, and check it out.

Never expeceted this to show up in my search for "internet marketing"…just didn’t seem relevant….but hey, I do own some Google stock.

These might be the ole cpm ads that were mentioned/rumored awhile back by Google.  Yahoo’s been the Glory of Hollywood, but looks like Google’s trying to step in now.

Wonder if this is just the beginning of something for Google…wonder what a ROS on Google costs?

What are your thoughts?

Cat Post: New way to cook OMELETS.

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

Just got an email from someone with this new way to cook OMELETS.

Haven’t tried it yet…maybe I’ll try this tomorrow….I’m one to experiment with cooking (you may recall my kahlua and baileys pancakes).

OMELETS YOUR WAY
Have you ever heard of this? (This works great!) Good for when all of your family is together and no one has to wait for their special omelet) Have guests write their name on a quart-size zip-lock freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (Large or Extra large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as ; cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hashbrowns, salsa, mushrooms, Etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice in to their bag and shake, Make sure to get the air out of the bag and then zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more make another pot of boiling water. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Nice to serve with fresh fruit or toast . Everyone gets involved in the process and what a great conversation piece.
P.S. quote from one lady, "I tried it this weekend and mixed mine into a bowl before putting into bag, I also added salt, pepper and a little milk and a tiny sliver of butter. Since I had added so many ingredients, ours took 15 minutes to get done, and I was amazed as to how large and fluffy they turned out. It will be a staple in our house now for making omelets.

Don’t use sandwich bags -they will melt, use quart freezer bags.

New Internet Marketing Tool - Common Backlinks.

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I should start by saying that I’m not positive I’ve got the original idea on this tool.

A few years ago I saw a tool that gave me an idea for a private tool that did a lot more. We’ve had this one private tool for 2 1/2 years, but I did some edits to it for a "public version"….now I’m wondering if what I’m left with is the tool I used for inspiration 2 1/2 years ago.  If you’ve seen a tool like this, let me know and I’ll remove this, or edit it so it’s different.

What this tool does:
you enter in 10 of your competitors (or your site, and 9 of your competitors) and then press "Go"

It then returns a list of sites that link to 2 or more of your competitors.

These are sites you might want to contact to request links from - this is part of the neighborhood you want to be in.

The tool would be better if it showed the exact pages where your links were, and also if the pages it lists are scraper pages that have no google value (our private tools does some of this). To find this out manually check yahoo for linkdomain:one-of-your-competitors.com site:result-site.com . This will show the page where one of the links is. Click on that page, check for google recent cache - if yes, then contact.

Internet Marketing Tool

Question: When can you legally publish a picture?

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

I just got an email with some “Joke” pictures….made me laugh, and I thought “Hey, I think others might get a laugh from these comics, I’ll blog these”…..but then I thought….”I don’t have copyright, so I can’t publish them”.

Is that right….unless you have the copyright to a picture, you can’t publish it?

Back from Boston Pubcon.

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Well I’m back from the Boston Webmasterworld Pubcon.  It was a great time…maybe at times too good (at least my head said in the mornings).

I forgot my camera, so I grabbed a disposable the second day and snapped maybe 5-7 pictures. I should have those tomorrow (anyone else have pics?)

My link building sesson went pretty good. I’ve never given the same presentation more than once. I’m constantly experimenting with my 12-14 minutes that we get. This time I decided to show - first mistakes we’ve made in the past, followed by how we get links now (with a few examples). I also asked the bloggers not to comment on the specifics of the presentation since I was getting a bit personal with our practices. (at least 1 person liked it (thanks Peter!)).

Thanks for your time, Shoe(blog naked)Money (and thanks for the white hat!), Dan (I Hate/Love Google) Kramer (Hey, Dan just got interview by SEOBuzzbox, Check it out!), Mike (Shoehorn Stick) Grehan, Christine Churchill, Aaron (traffic power killer) Wall, Peter Davis (Great SEO Blogger, check him out if you haven’t yet), Justin (Chicago) and Brad (eWhisper) , Neil (Engine) , the secret SEO club, Zac (we do pay per click management), Ted Ulle, Glen (wheel), Lynn (Click Newz) Terry, All the "Since 1994" BOTW Guys, Tony (notsleepy), Rae (Sugarrae), Bruce Clay, Darrin and Brandy, Kid Disco,  Roger (Martinibuster), Eric (Mr. Links) Ward, Bill (let’s take a helecopter) Hartzer, Patrick, and I know I’m missing tons more.

Looks like I’m missing the next pubcon in Vegas since my second baby is due that week. The wife just won’t let me go. ;)
